Singer-songwriter Ian Bamberger Has Something to Say
Don’t underestimate the power of a great cold email.
Back in November 2020, Ian Bamberger reached out to me with an email that was equal parts friendly and humbled self-promotion. It was one of the best emails I’ve ever received and that correspondence eventually led to Ian’s appearance on the Offstage Tunes Live show.
Most people don’t realize how much work goes into being an independent musician.
Ian Bamberger started playing music at age 12 and has been releasing his own original music since 2013. His take on being an indie artist? It’s not easy. So for the first time since 2013, he released his single “Crazy World” through Big Stir Records.
“In today’s day and age, you’re a musician, but you also have to be your own promoter, your own booking agent, your own manager, you have to send hundreds of pitch emails to radio stations, to blogs. [BIg Stir Records] help with a little bit of the legwork, which is great, and they help with promo. It’s nice to have some people who are willing to go to bat with you and your music.”
“Crazy World” is part of a collection of songs Ian wrote between March 2020 and February 2021. “During this pandemic,” says Ian, “I’ve been writing. I write everyday. [I’m a] singer-songwriter, it’s my life.”
In the span of just 11 months, Ian finished writing 28 songs, and is planning to release the best of the 28 in an upcoming album scheduled for summer 2021.
Want a hint of what’s to come? “Follow me on social media and you’ll get an idea of the theme,” says Ian.
Ian Bamberger is not just a terrific singer-songwriter and guitarist. He’s got a knack for marketing too.
